Description of Pictures: CNN Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour to Discuss “Covering the World” on The Kalb Report, March 10. CNN Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour and legendary journalist Marvin Kalb will discuss war, crisis, and disaster coverage in the third installment of this season’s Kalb Report series. The Kalb Report is produced by The George Washington University, Harvard’s Joan Shorenstein Center, and the National Press Club and underwritten by a grant from the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation.

Also recognized in the audience was Kimberly Dozier. She's described on the CBS web site as: A CBS News correspondent working primarily in Baghdad since August 2003. She has covered Iraq and the Middle East extensively for the CBS Evening News, The Early Show and CBS Radio News. On Memorial Day 2006 (May 29), while reporting a story in Baghdad about American soldiers working with Iraqi security forces, Dozier, cameraman Paul Douglas and soundman James Brolan were the victims of a car bombing. Douglas and Brolan were killed, as were the U.S. Army captain they were following and his Iraqi translator. Dozier was seriously wounded, but recovered completely after multiple surgeries and months of physiotherapy.

Description of Subject Matter: The George Washington University, the National Press Club and the Shorenstein Center have produced 51 forums in the The Kalb Report series since 1994. This highly acclaimed public affairs series is hosted by the distinguished journalist/scholar Marvin Kalb. Through one-on-one interviews and panel discussions emanating from the main ballroom of the National Press Club before audiences comprising several hundred students and professionals, Mr. Kalb explores topics ranging from "Ethics in Journalism" to "Covering the Private Lives of Public Officials." Guests have included Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather, Jim Lehrer, Ted Koppel, Sen. Hillary Clinton, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Nobel Prize winner Elie Wiesel, New York Times Publisher Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., former CBS News President Andrew Heyward, NPR President and CEO Kevin Klose, FOX News Chairman Roger Ailes, CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer, New York Times Columnist Thomas Friedman, and Washington Post Writer/Editor Bob Woodward. The Kalb Report airs on XM Public Radio (Channel 133 on XM Satellite Radio), WHUT-TV Channel 32 Public Television, and 630 WMAL Radio in Washington.
Executive producer for The Kalb Report is Mike Freedman, vice president and professorial lecturer in broadcast journalism at GW. The Kalb Report producers are Matt Lindsay and Heather Clapp Date.
In June 2004, the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association named The Kalb Report "Best Public Affairs Program" on the radio in the Washington, D.C., region.

2008 photos: Equipment this year: I was using three cameras -- the Fuji S9000 and the Canon Rebel Xti from last year, and a new camera, the Fuji S100fs. The first two cameras had their pluses and minuses and I really didn't have a single camera that I thought I could use for just about everything. But I loved the S100fs and used it almost exclusively this year. Trips this year: (1) Civil War Preservation Trust annual conference in Springfield, Missouri , (2) a week in New York, (3) a week in San Diego for the Comic-Con, (4) a driving trip to St. Louis, and (5) a visit to dad and Dixie's in Asheville, North Carolina. Ego strokes: A picture I'd taken last year during a Friends of the Homeless event was published in USA Today with a photo credit and everything! Photos taken this year: 330,000. User page views this year: 22,700.
